Week of May 27 - Welcome! The church at times is seen as a family, but the Bible states an even closer relationship - the body. Those who are in Christ are part of the same body. Paul encouraged the church in Ephesus to be mindful of each other. "I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith you are called, with all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one anothe in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God, and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all." (Ephesians 4:1-6) The love of Jesus Christ will keep us all together. Live and be a blessing!

Acts2:1-4 - "And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance."

How to Be an Overcomer

CRGBy Charles R. Grisham

Have you considered the saying, “I’m a survivor”? It’s common today and many people say they’ve survived many things. There are Holocaust survivors, hurricane survivors, earthquake survivors and survivors of all sorts of disasters, natural and man-made. But it’s possible to be more than a survivor. You can be an overcomer!“If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land.” (Isaiah 1:19) Ephesians 2:10 tells us we are “His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to good works.” God has ordained that we would walk in them. Romans 8:28 says, “all things work together for good… to them who walk according to His purpose.” And verse 27 tells us that He searches our hearts and intercedes for us. When God tells us what to do, it’s always better than going our own way.Overcomers are willing and obedient! They seek to follow hard after Jesus – “I have overcome the world.” (John16:33)The power that comes after we receive the Holy Ghost enables us to be witnesses unto Him. This is all a part of His glorious plan. He, who knew all things from the beginning, (Romans 8:29) planned the church as the victorious Bride of Christ. She is the elect according to the foreknowledge of God (I Peter 1:2) A called out people within a people through His workmanship. In John 14:12, Jesus said, “I work.” But He also said, “greater works shall ye do.” He works greater works in us through His grace. We are His workmanship!

When you first believed, it was easy to follow hard after Him. But maturity brings greater responsibility – and…

When God can trust you
You are blessed indeed!

I’m not perfect but “I follow after…” (Philippians 3:12) Ephesians 1:10 says, “He gathers together in Christ all things – in Heaven and in earth.” God is taking good care of us! In Jesus, “we obtain an inheritance.” (Ephesians 1:11)

We are overcomers with Him! He is the Head, we are the body – one in harmony, one in unity, one in faith, one in righteousness, one in Truth.

More than mere survivors… more even than conquerors… overcomers are victorious not only in this life, but throughout eternity! Consider the benefits of being an overcomer..

  • Overcomers eat of the tree of life. (Revelation 2:7)
  • Overcomers cannot be hurt by the second death. (2:11)
  • Overcomers eat of the hidden manna. (2:17)
  • Overcomers receive power over the nations. (2:26)
  • Overcomers are clothed in white raiment and their names are not blotted out of the book of life. (3:5)
  • Overcomers are pillars in the temple of God. (3:12)
  • Overcomers sit with Christ in His throne! (3:21)
“I am crucified with Christ – yet not I – but Christ in me!” [He lives in me!] (Galatians 2:20) Martyrdom could be in our future. The Apostles weren’t exempt; we don’t need to think we will be exempt. Yet we are to be witnesses at all times – not just when we’re “under the gun.” We overcome because “greater is He that is in [us] than he that is in the world.” (I John 4:4) It’s His Spirit that makes the difference!
