Renewal and Refreshing

I recently watched a clip from the funeral service of the Rev. Billy Graham, in it his youngest son mention something that stuck with me for the year and in particular this season. He said “ My dad was fat.” Faithful, available and teachable.”

These are things we should all strive for, faithfulness has been given unto us in unmatched by our Creator, Lamentations 3:22-24.

Availability in all things, is essential for us to be used by Him to reach the world around us. Ephesians 6:6-8.

Teachable can be the hardest for us to do. The “don’t learn me that” can rise up out of nowhere and grip your mind like nothing you’ve ever dealt with before. Squashing that feeling can take everything within you and you still will need the help of the Master to wrangle your unruly spirit. IITimothy 2:22-24.

James 1:2 Be ye doers of the Word and not only hearers only…

The christian life is not mearly knowing or hearing, but doing the will of Christ.                    Frederick William Robertson

The greatest saint in the world is not he who prays most or fasts most; it is not he who gives alms, or is most eminent for temperance, chastity, or justice. It is he who is most thankful to God.

William Law

God gave you a gift of 86,400 seconds today. Have you used one to say “thank you?”

The best thing to give to your enemy is forgiveness; to an opponent, tolerance; to a friend, your heart; to your child, a good example; to a father, deference; to your mother, conduct that will make her proud of you; to yourself, respect; to all men, charity.

My Best Friend

I am happy that you have chosen New Life as your place of worship and inspiration today. Here you will find an atmosphere to grow spiritually, gather with like-minded people, and feel the wonderful presence of God.  Now, that Christ is your focus, you can start to see Him as He is; One that cares about you and who will help you along as you learn more about Him. He sees his followers as friends.

John 15:15 Jesus said I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.

As Pastor, I will tell you that Jesus will make the best friend that you’ve ever had.
